Tea and coffee set Socoa

A great encounter between sterling silver and precious wood

Designed in 1937, this mirror-polished silver and exotic wook service is yet another great example of Jean Puiforcat’s Art Deco repertoire, as displayed in its carefully studied proportions and geometric blends.

From the side of the cylindrical volumes protrudes a vertical spout ending in a clean right angle at the opening. Meanwhile, each of the pieces’s flat area intersects with wide semicircular handles festooned with bold semi-cylindrical cuts of exotic wood.

The long, narrow serving tray is bounded on either side by two semi-circular handles featuring the same dark wood pattern. Besides the tray, the service includes four serving pieces - a teapot, coffee pot, creamer and covered sugar bowl. Each of these five pieces are hand made in Puiforcat's workshop, faithful to the drawings kept in the company's archives.
