Chantaco

Silver plated

Silversmith since 1920, Jean Puiforcat began designing his first flatware models as early as 1922.

Now crafted in silver‑plated metal, model No. 125, better known as Chantaco, was created according to the principles of the Art Deco style and also reflects Jean Puiforcat’s thinking on the form of the ideal piece of flatware.

‘I reduced the number of tines and stopped making them parallel, which allowed me to strengthen them while giving them a curve that does not break the unity of the piece.’
These words were reported by Maximilien Gauthier in his article ‘Jean Puiforcat – A Sculptor‑Silversmith’ in L’Art Vivant, No. 26, 1926.
