This metal is so precious that a government degree was issued to guarantee its value: every piece made of first-grade sterling silver – 950 parts per thousand for large pieces and 930 parts per thousand for cutlery, i.e. 95% and 93% pure silver, respectively – features a legally mandatory hallmark depicting the head of goddess Minerva, attesting to its purity. This is the noble material that craftsmen fashion in our workshop.
Once the pieces have been made, they receive another hallmark specific to the House of Puiforcat to certify their authenticity: a diamond or oval shape with, in its center, a small pocket knife flanked with the initials E and P for Émile Puiforcat, co-founder of the company. These marks may be discreet, but they are immediately identifiable by experts as reflecting the full meaning of luxury and exceptionalism that the House has been cultivating for nearly two centuries.
