Loya - Art Déco 1927

Silver plated

In 1927, “the renovator of modern silversmithing,” Jean Puiforcat continued his exploration of modern forms based on the great mathematical theories of art. Referring to spherical, conical and cylindrical geometry, he expanded his avant-garde Art Deco repertoire. The Loya 1927 tea and coffee set illustrates his mastery of refinement, combining the polychromed effects of sterling silver with precious wood handles. Delicately encircled by facetted bands, the pieces’ rounded shapes play with the rays of light reflected on the polished surfaces.
